Our comprehensive offering, Center Stage offer instruction in all aspects of musical theatre for a variety of age groups and skill levels with a lot of individual attention. For more advanced students ages 13 to 18, Broadway Musical Workshop allows young adults to prepare and perform full scenes and numbers from famous musicals, from sight-reading to singing to dancing to scene work.
We offer a variety of dance classes, such as Youth Yoga and Children’s Tap. Studio One is also proud to introduce its brand-new dance company, The A.C.T. Contemporaries–an ensemble of young performers who get to create and perform their own choreography and ideas.
In vocal performance, Children’s and Teen Voice classes (for ages 8 to 18) instruct vocalists in proper breathing technique, projection, diction, musicianship, and more on their way to becoming a better group or solo voice musician. Private vocal instruction for all ages is also available.
Many acting electives are offered at A.C.T.’s Studio One. Teen Improv and Children’s Improv teach students how to create memorable characters and scenes on the spot, while Teen Acting, for ages 14 to 18, teaches fundamentals by exploring monologues, scene study, and speech through the works of diverse playwrights. Speech and Dialect covers various dialects for the stage as well as the proper vocal technique useful in auditions and the rehearsal process. Shakespeare for Teens uses scenes, monologues and the Shakespearean Insults game to explore the bawdy, funny, action-packed side of Shakespeare.
Adult Group Voice meets for the entire winter/spring semester and offers adults a place to perfect their choral singing as well as solo work. Adult Improv, Adult Acting, Adult Tap, and Adult Broadway Jazz Dance classes are also available. Some of these classes meet for shorter sessions to accommodate busy schedules, drop-ins are always welcome. These classes are leveled to serve beginners, intermediate and advanced performers who are looking to strengthen their skills and have fun!
A.C.T.’s Studio One also offers adults, children, and teens private instruction in voice, acting, and dance, with special packages available for private ballroom lessons.
