The Academy of The Company Theatre (ACT) announces auditions for young actors ages 7 to 13 for their upcoming production of Shrek the Musical Jr., on Wednesday, February 4 and Thursday, February 5, from 3:45 to 6:00 pm at The Company Theatre Centre for the Performing Arts, 30 Accord Park Drive, Norwell. The production will be directed by Zoe Bradford and Jordie Saucerman, with music direction by Melissa Carubia and choreography by Sally Forrest. A headshot is helpful but not required. Actors should plan to attend both days of auditions, with the first day spent learning song selection, movement and a script reading for their audition. Candidates who audition will not all necessarily be cast.
Classes rehearsing the production are held from 3:45 to 5:45 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays during the production season, beginning February 9. Tuition for the classes and production is $350 per student, and includes curriculum from the ACT Studio One program Center Stage. Some financial assistance is available. Tuition is due following the casting announcement. A completed emergency form must accompany audition candidates, available upon arrival.
Shrek the Musical Jr. is a youth version of the Tony Award® winning new musical. Based on the Oscar®-winning film, the fairy tale adventure gathers all the beloved characters from the film to life on stage, and proves there’s more to a story than meets the ears. An unlikely hero finds himself on a life-changing journey alongside a wisecracking donkey and a feisty princess who resists rescue. A gingerbread man with an attitude and dozens of other fairy tale misfits deliver the kind of mess that only Shrek can solve! Irreverent fun for the whole family, Shrek proves that beauty is truly in the “eye of the ogre”.
Performances of Shrek the Musical, Jr. will be held on April 17 through 26, tickets are $17 for adults, $15 for students.
