The Academy of The Company Theatre (A.C.T.) and A.C.T. Teen Conservatory announce auditions for youth actors ages 8 to 19 for their upcoming production of the musical CATS, on Wednesday, January 24 and Thursday, January 25, from 3:30 to 6:00 pm at The Company Theatre Center for Performing Arts.

It is that one special night of the year – the night of the Jellicle Ball – where all the cats come out to play. In CATS, one by one they tell their stories to Old Deuteronomy, their wise leader, who will choose one special cat to be re-born into her extra precious 9th life! Based on T.S. Eliot’s whimsical poems, Andrew Lloyd Weber’s international phenomenon comes alive with felines of all shapes and sizes, dancing and singing the Tony Award® winning score, including Grizabella’s haunting “Memory”.
Actors should be strong singers and dancers, and plan to attend both days of auditions, which will include learning a song, movement, and character work. Not all audition candidates will be cast.
Classes rehearsing the production are held from 3:45 to 5:45 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays during the production season, beginning Monday, January 29. Rehearsals during production week are held from April 15 through 19. A complete production week schedule will be available at auditions.
A non-refundable audition fee of $15 is payable upon arrival. Tuition for the classes and production is $395 per student. Some financial assistance is available. Tuition is due following the casting announcement. A headshot is helpful but not required, and students should come dressed for movement. A completed emergency form must accompany audition candidates, available on the theatre’s website or upon arrival.
CATS performances are April 20 through 29, from Friday through Sunday, matinee and evening performances are available. Tickets are $18 for students, $20 for adults, available for purchase at www.companytheatre.com.
A.C.T. was founded in 1987 by Zoe Bradford, Michael Joseph and Jordie Saucerman, with a mission to discover the creative spirit in each child in an enjoyable and challenging atmosphere and to build self-confidence through the experience of the arts.
