
A.C.T. Summer Workshop gives students ages 8 to 18 the opportunity to create, learn, perform and have fun in a nurturing environment alongside professional artist-faculty. Students are able to choose six classes per day from more than 70 classes in the performing and visual arts. Early registration is recommended as the program is amongst the most popular on the South Shore.
For the youngest students, A.C.T. Jr. for ages 5 to 7 in a shortened, age-appropriate program each Workshop day from 1 to 3 pm. Children spend each afternoon learning songs, dances, crafts and theatre play. This newer offering is designed to introduce young ones to the arts and explore their creativity! Students in this program will enjoy performing for their families on Friday, July 12, 2:30 pm.
ACT Summer Workshop PosterPre-Pro, an extended day program is offered for teen students ages 14 to 18. This exploration into acting and performing hones skills for the serious student who seeks a greater challenge in theatre arts. Pre-Pro students have the opportunity to audition
and perform in the musical The Rocky Horror Show on Friday, July 12 and Saturday, July 13, 7 pm. The performance is open to the public, tickets are $20 adults, $18 students. Participation in The Rocky Horror Show is by audition only, an audition fee of $20 is due at the auditions, audition date TBA.
Founded in 1987, The Academy of the Company Theatre (A.C.T.) builds creativity and self-confidence in students through the performing and visual arts in a challenging, fun, and supportive environment. Studio One at A.C.T. offers classes to foster self-expression and ability in the performing arts in a creative and safe environment through progressive training to children, teens and adults. Studio One launches classes during fall and winter/spring semesters, and features an established teaching-artist based faculty, who educate, nurture and encourage proper technical development in voice, acting, movement and music. The program is designed to lead students to confident, positive life experiences.
Families and friends of students are welcome to attend final performances at Arts Festival Day on Saturday, July 14 from 9 am to 4 pm.
