An Update from Our Artistic Director

June 8th, 2020

Dear Friends,

The Covid-19 pandemic has affected all businesses and households. The performing arts community is especially bearing the adverse impact of the shutdowns. We are also keenly aware of the national crisis for people of color that has once again shown the inequities in the way people with black and brown skin are treated in our country.

We join our colleagues, peers, and patrons who continue to speak out for justice. Inclusivity and diversity are trademarks of The Company Theatre’s mission. We are especially proud of our young actors, teachers, board members, and staff who joined me in the Hingham vigil for George Floyd on June 2nd. Having our theatre, a place where people of all races and ethnicities perform and work, temporarily closed is especially heart wrenching.

Ticket sales account for 80% of our income. The financial impact of the virus has been devastating for The Company Theatre. We do plan on performing our exciting season of shows, concerts, and events as soon as CDC guidelines permit.

Today, we launch a fundraising campaign – $41 for 41 Years; $41 from each of our 30,000 patrons will make a difference!

Our Board of Directors, and many of our patrons, have chosen to donate their 2020 show tickets to this campaign. As we continue to postpone our schedule, all patrons holding tickets to our Musical Theatre Productions through October or Special Events through August will receive an email confirming a credit has been applied to their account. When you receive this credit, you may want to consider making it a tax deductible donation to the campaign.

Another way you can help us is to contact our elected officials, at all levels of government, to let them know what the Company Theatre means to you. We need state and federal officials to approve viable plans to reopen and financial support to help us bridge the gap on the road to recovery. To learn more about contacting your elected officials, click HERE.

From all of us at The Company Theatre, we thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate through this unprecedented time. Live theatre brings us together, and as our many generations of performers and patrons can attest, sharing this experience makes us a family.

Best,
Zoe Bradford

Dear Friend of the Arts,

As The Company Theatre’s plans evolve in response to the COVID 19 Pandemic, we will update this webpage with the most current information available. The Company is suspending all public performances, in-person classes, and rehearsals until we are able to reopen.

Our staff will be available by phone (781-871-2787) or email (boxoffice@companytheatre.com) to help you and will respond as quickly as possible. We are currently suspending in-person classes for the Academic Year, but we are offering online classes and private instruction. If you have questions regarding classes, please email academy@companytheatre.com. Tickets can still be purchased online at companytheatre.com via the “Buy Tickets” link in the right-hand corner of your screen, and donations made by clicking on the red donate button. Your tax-deductible donation will help to ensure our staff and artists are ready to entertain you with thought-provoking and vibrant theatre when this is over.

We have great confidence in the future of The Company Theatre and in the extraordinary line-up of performances that will grace the stage as we continue with our 2020 season. We can’t wait to share them with you!

All of us at The Company Theatre appreciate your deep commitment to and support of the work we do. Our livelihood depends on bringing people together, and when we gather we are all made better. We look forward to welcoming you back!
We send our best wishes for health and safety to each of you, our beloved patrons and supporters.
