COMPANY THEATRE WINS PRESTIGIOUS MOSS HART AWARD FOR “BIG RIVER”!
The Company Theatre has once again won the coveted Moss Hart Award, this time for its recent production of “Big River,” which was selected as “The Best Overall Production In New England” for 2004. The Company Theatre had previously won the award for its 1990 production of “Gloryland.”
In accepting the award, The Company Theatre artistic directors– Jordie Saucerman, Michael Joseph, and Zoe Bradford (photo)– stated; “We are very proud to receive this prestigious award for our production of “Big River,” and in our 25th anniversary season. We believe the success of this show lies not only in the wonderful score, or in the transcending of racial barriers, but in the celebration of human dignity. The Moss Hart Award reaffirms our efforts as we strive to achieve ethnic diversity on stage. This challenging mission has been greatly rewarded upon our recognition for such shows as “Ragtime” and “Big River,” while we continue to develop the talents of amateur performers. Winning this award in 1990 helped us to achieve this dream, and winning the award in 2004 may help us to achieve others. We thank you very much for this honor.”
